A LEGACY IN THE MAKING

Legacy Cottages on Lake Rosseau is nestled in a region renowned for its scenic splendour. Rocky Canadian Shield shorelines are framed by iconic windswept pines. The famous “Big Three” lakes: Rosseau, Muskoka and Joseph are interconnected, offering endless opportunity for exploration. Charming little villages surround the lakes, showcasing authentic Muskoka life.

The first mention of Muskoka in any record was in 1615, when it was home to First Nations peoples. The name Muskoka is thought to come from the name of a Chippewa chief named “Mesqua Ukee”. The region blossomed in the late 1800’s with the introduction of the railway and steamships.

Over the past 150 years, Muskoka has evolved from a settlement area known for its timber and steamboat navigation, into to a coveted destination for cottagers to retreat and rejuvenate. The mastermind and developer of Legacy Cottages – The Rosseau Group – has embraced the rich history of Muskoka and reimagined it, making it a modern Muskoka.  Simple put, Lake Rosseau is a vacation paradise offering a luxury Muskoka cottage experience unlike any other.
